By WSFC Web Staff
October 5, 2020

Just a little before 2100 hrs , the volunteers were alerted for an accident with ejection at the intersection of Lancaster Pike / Pennsy Rd. Chief 50 made the response and was advised by communications of a pick up truck that crashed as a result of a vehicle pursuit by the police department. Chief 50 also was advised that the driver of the vehicle was trapped under the truck. While units were responding , additional information was provided that the driver was not trapped under the vehicle but was ejected. Chief 50 arrived to find a pick up truck that had rolled several times about 150ft off the roadway in a creek. Upon investigation , Chief 50 found that the driver was ejected from the vehicle and landed on a rock embankment about 50 ft off the roadway. Rescue 50 arrived and worked with EMS to gain access to the patient on the rocks. The crew of 8 was tasked with setting up a haul system while a couple of members made there way to the patient with EMS. Once access was gained to the patient by EMS and fire personal , it was determined that the patient was injured beyond help. At this point all rescue efforts were stopped and the scene was turned over to the Pa State Police for investigation.

While the police department was doing there investigation , company officers came up with a game plan to remove the patient from the rocks onto land. Crews set up a haul system and also used 2 ground ladders over the water to remove the patient once the investigation was complete.

Several mutual aid fire departments were requested for traffic control to redirect traffic around the accident scene. The roadway was closed till a little after 0100.
