Just a little after 1400 the company was alerted for a brush fire out of control and going toward the wood in the 700 blk Pennsy Road in Providence Township. While responding Engine 502 requested a tanker be dispatched due to the colum of smoke observed while responding. Upon requesting an additional tanker, a 2nd call was received that the fire has now spread into the woods. At this point an additional tanker and a brush truck was requested. Tanker 59 (Refton) , Tanker and Brush 58 were alerted to assist. On arrival, crews found a controlled burn that got into the woods with about 1/2 acre burning. As the fire was gaining speed due to the dry conditions and slight breeze command requested 2 more tankers bring tankers 57 (Quarryville) and 60 (West Willow). Crews worked for about 30 mins bring the fire under control and another 45 mins doing mop up work.
