| As units began responding, the assignment was upgraded to a barn fire, and a large column of smoke could be seen for miles. Units arrived finding a nearly 500' long chicken house that was about 50% involved. Crews laid multiple supply lines from multiple different water sources, and stretched several attack lines, both inside and outside the building, to try and limit the fire spread. This fire posed many challenges between the size of the structure, gaining access to where the fire was burning, long supply lines shutting down main roads, and the fact that many of the crews were already spent from working at the first fire. Units operated for about 6 hours before clearing the scene. A huge thank you goes out to all of the mutual aid departments that assisted or covered the area during the fire, and to anyone that brought food and water to the crews working. |
