At 0002 the Rescue was alerted for the RIT team to assist Millersville 6-5 on Glen Oaks Dr. Units from 6-6 (Lancaster Twp) and 6-5 arrived with a working fire. While crews from Engine 6-6-1 were making entry they had an explosion at the front door. At that point command asked for the evacuation tones until the bulk of the fire was knocked down. While this was occuring command asked for a 2nd alarm plus a RIT assignment which sent Rescue 5-12. The Rescue arrived with 10 and split crews. Half went to staging and the other half became the RIT team on side alpha. The interior team was put to work opening up and finished knocking the fire down while the RIT stood fast in case they had to be put to work. The RIT was broken down after about 25 mins and then was sent to staging. The Rescue remained on the scene until 0246.
