Wednesday, February 10, 2010 - This morning the blizzard of 2010 continued from the previous evening bringing heavy snow and wind to the area. With almost two feet of snow already on the ground from Saturday, this official blizzard was adding another foot or more of snow as well as 40 mph winds. Late in the morning the company was dispatched to a medical assist but was recalled shortly thereafter. At the same time the company was dispatched to Edgemont Dr for snow causing a roof to sag. The volunteers shoveled snow off the roof and went available in short order. Just after backing into the station the company was alerted to assist Refton on a building fire at Herr and Leaman Tractor shop on Breneman Rd in Strasburg Township. Refton units advised the bridge on Breneman Rd was out and that units had to access from a dirt road off of Lime Valley Rd. Due to blowing and drifting snow the only units that could access the scene were 4 wheel drive vehicles. Neighbors brought tractors and front end loaders to assist units and nearly 2000 feet of LDH was put on the street, some of which was dragged by a tractor since fire units could not pass the covered bridge at Breneman and Lime Valley Rds. All units encountered horrible weather conditions but worked to save the structure. Crews were on scene until late in the afternoon. Photos are of the tanker supply site and of the working faces after enduring the blizzard conditions.
